Request (Borrow) material using Loanshark. This collective catalog of all Louisiana parishes is provided by the State Library of Louisiana.

  • Borrow items, suggest material that is not in CPPL's collection, and check the status of those requests.  
    • All borrowed items are sent to us. We'll let you know when it's ready for pickup.

  • Some material may be photocopied in lieu of sending the physical item. 
  • If you've searched everywhere and still can't find it, submit a blank request. See info below.

Under Select your Library, choose W1CC - Calcasieu Public Library. 
Enter your library card number (username) and PIN (password).
Searching the collection
Login to Loanshark.

Under Select your Library, choose W1CC - Calcasieu Public Library.


Enter your library card number (username) and PIN (password).


Search for your title, etc.


Once you've found your desired item, click the Request this Item button.


Verify information on the screen then click the SUBMIT button.


NOTES: If you haven't previously registered for a Loanshark account, when you do log in to Loanshark with your library card and PIN, you will automatically be registered. Your library account must be in good standing.

Request Limits

Users may have fifty (50) active requests at one time.


You'll receive an alert when you reach your limit.


You may continue to search within Loanshark.


If you have reached your limit, you can make lists for yourself that can be requested at a later date.


An “active” request starts the moment a request is made, all the way through until the lending library has received the item and checks it back in though Loanshark.

Who is eligible for this service?

This service is unavailable to temp accounts and online accounts that haven't been upgraded to a full-service account.


It is also unavailable to non Calcasieu residents, unless you have an LSW card and use it in Calcasieu Parish.


Your library card must also be in good standing to use this service. If your card is blocked, contact the library for additional information.

Click Your Account then Items From Other Libraries.


View your requests and their status.

You've searched the online catalog and Loanshark, but didn't find what you needed. Request/Suggest that we purchase for our collection. We will do our best to add it.


How?

Submit requests by using the Blank ILL Request option within Loanshark.


This option is located near the top left-hand corner of the screen.

Why can't I get the item that I requested?
The Library follows a set of criteria based on professional standards and approaches. We build a collection appropriate for our role in the community, providing materials for both informational and leisure purposes.

The Library applies the same selection criteria to suggestions and requests. We may be unable to fulfill certain interlibrary loan requests if no lending library has the item available (IV. SELECTION, E. Suggestions & Requests). Additionally, we may not be able to purchase an item if it is unavailable from an approved vendor (IV. SELECTION, G. Purchasing).
