Central Branch

Central Children's Area (1st floor)

Wendy Carbo will read her incredible children's book based on a true story! She will also teach us about caring for our environment and the dangers of littering.

Harry the Snakebird is based on a true story of two children, Marie and Brian, who freed an Anhinga (aka a snakebird) at Capitol Lake in Baton Rouge from a littered band binding its beak and causing it to endure starvation. Several copies of Harry the Snakebird will be available for checkout and purchase.
