My Account

Library Card Info
      • Report it immediately to any library branch.
      • If you do not report a lost card, all items check out on that card are the responsibility of that cardholder.
      • It is .50 to replace a card.
    • Renew Your Account

      • Due to COVID-19 and social distancing measures, users may renew their library account over the phone, through LIVE CHAT, or visit a library.
      • Staff will need to verify that all information in your account is up-to-date.
      • If visiting a library branch, please provide proof of address.

      • Library accounts expire every two years so that we may have the most current information (ex: phone number, address and email address) on file.

      Exceptions:

      • Expiration dates for temporary cardholders is 3 months.
      • Online user accounts expiration dates vary.
      • Expiration dates vary from every 3 months to annually, depending upon your card number.
        • Please contact library staff or Live Chat for assistance.
      • Libraries Southwest cardholders must contact home library for details.
      • Mobile users (OverDrive) expire in 1 year with no renewals.

      Outstanding Balances

      • Outstanding balances must be paid before accounts can be renewed or items can be checked out. This includes both physical and electronic material.
      • All linked, associated accounts must be clear of fines as well.
      • Outstanding fine balances may be paid using the online pay service.
      • Blocked and Barred users must visit a local branch to clear up the account.

    • Instant Digital Card - OverDrive use only

      • Sign up with a mobile phone number.
      • Accounts are only valid for a maximum of a year.
      • Once a mobile number has been used, it cannot be renewed.
      • Please visit the library for a physical card or use a different phone number.
      • Sign up.
All about Items
      • Item(s) can be renewed twice if no holds.  
      • Items are automatically renewed two days before their due date unless there is a hold.
      • Items are automatically renewed twice. 
        • Exceptions: Dolls, take-home laptops/iPads, and hotspots.
      • OverDrive eBooks and eAudiobooks can be renewed online through the Libby app.

      ADDITIONAL OPTIONS:

      With an email address on file, we can notify you 3 days prior to the item (s) becoming overdue.

      • Return items to any library location regardless of where the item was originally checked out.
      • Drop the items at the designated return areas.
        • If after hours, use one of our drop boxes.
        • Exception: Laptops, iPads, hotspots, cake pans, American Girl BeForever Dolls, and Sensory backpacks can't be returned in drop boxes.

      COVID-19 NOTE: All items will be quarantined for 3 days before being removed from accounts.  

      • A courtesy email is sent two (2) days before an item is due back to the library.
      • If the item is not returned by the due date, an overdue notice is sent the following day.
      • A second overdue notice is sent when the item is one (1) week overdue.
      • When materials are fifteen (15) days overdue, a bill for the cost of replacing the item (s) is sent to the cardholder.
      • Cardholders with items fifteen (15) days overdue will have their borrowing privileges blocked until the items are returned.
    • State Laws on confidentiality prohibits the library from allowing anyone but yourself from picking up items that you have on hold unless we have your permission for others to pick up your items. This permission must be noted in our computer system.

      • Check with a staff member for assistance.
      • We have an automated system that will contact you when your hold is ready for pickup.
      • Opt-in to SMS Messaging option. This option includes notifications for holds, bills, and overdue material.
      • We normally keep holds on the "hold shelf" for 5 days. For extensions, please contact the pickup location for assistance.
      • With a valid email address on file, we'll notify you about the available hold.
      • Get notified via text message by signing up for SMS notifications via My Account--My Information.
      • No limits on the number of holds.
      • Limit on the number of items that you may check out at one time.
      • We offer hold suspensions.

      eContent (eBooks or eAudiobooks from OverDrive)

      • Limit of 10 holds total per library card.
        • This includes any items that you have recommended, items you already have on hold, and holds that are available but haven't been checked out. 
    • As of December 2019, we no longer charge fines for most items.

      • Exceptions: Devices, device peripherals and other in-demand, high-cost items such as hotspots, laptops, Dolls, and backpacks.

      • Laptops, hotspots, and iPads are $10 for each overdue with a maximum fee of $70.
        • There is no grace period.
        • There is a $25 charge for placing laptops, hotspots, iPads, backpacks, dolls in the book drop.
        • You may accrue additional fees on items that need repair or damaged.

      BLOCKED ACCOUNT

      • If owed $25 or more your account will be blocked, and you will be unable to check out items or use some library services (book a computer, printing from computer).

  • Grace period of 1 day available for dolls and sensory backpacks. 
    • All other items are not eligible.
  • Most items are eligible for two renewals.
    • Dolls, take-home laptops and iPads, and Hotspots are not eligible for renewals.
    • In-library laptops at Central are not eligible for auto-renewals.
  • eContent has different checkout, download/streaming, and hold limits. Refer to the specific resource for additional details.
