Strut on down to the library and join songstress Johnette Downing for a concert of swampy songs about Louisiana animals.

Johnette’s irresistible Cajun, Creole, zydeco and jazz influenced rhythms have children toe-tapping and handclapping to playfully evocative songs about ‘gators, ‘skeeters, ‘possums, and mudbugs. The song from her beloved book Down in Louisiana is featured among others.

Recipient of the 2017 Louisiana Writer Award, Johnette Downing is a musician, author, illustrator, and poet dedicated to sharing her Louisiana roots music and books with children across the globe. Called the “Musical Ambassador to Children” and the “Cajun Raffi” by the media, Johnette has performed on five continents and has received numerous awards for her thirty books and twelve recordings. Her latest book Petit Pierre and His Wild Adventure is illustrated by Heather Stanley and published by Pelican Publishing.
