This month, Vinton's Adult Book Club will enjoy refreshments and discuss the intriguing historical mystery “Frozen River” by Ariel Lawhon. In this novel set in 1789, Martha Ballard is summoned to examine the body and determine cause of death of a man found frozen in a river. But when a local physician undermines her conclusion, Martha is forced to investigate the shocking murder on her own.
In 2020, the Fontenot Memorial Branch, named in honor of the late Jimmy Lee Fontenot of Vinton was damaged during the two hurricanes. Prior to 2020, the former Capital One building on Loree St. was purchased with plans to open a new Vinton Branch.
On Oct. 24, 2022, the new branch opened! In addition to offering the same services as the old location, this branch offers our first-ever drive-thru and gaming PCs, as well as a study room, a conference room, and a community room.
